Milaha, previously known as Qatar Navigation, supported and participated in Qatar’s first National Sports Day with a fun-filled day of sports at the Al Arabi Sports Club in Doha.
Employees from across Milaha and its subsidiaries participated in an extensive program of activities that was designed for all age groups and fitness strengths. Contestants enthusiastically battled each other in six-a-side football, cricket, basketball, rope-pulling, relay running, three-legged racing and aerobics. Table Football, Wii, painting and other activities were also available for those who were unable to participate in the more physically demanding activities. Gold, silver and bronze medals were awarded at the end by Khalifa Ali Al-Hetmi, President & CEO of Milaha, and Dr. Salem Al Naemi, Executive Vice President, Support Services, Milaha, for each sporting activity.
Mr. Al-Hetmi said “Milaha is proud to support Qatar’s first National Sports Day and we are committed to promoting a more active and healthier lifestyle in Qatar. This day not only aims to encourage people to enjoy sport, but also increases awareness about the importance of physical health.”
“Besides the sporting aspect, it was also an excellent opportunity for our management and staff to come together and enjoy spending time with each other outdoors on such a beautiful day.”
As part of Milaha’s continued support of a healthy lifestyle, the company is currently evaluating other means of supporting health initiatives, including sporting activities for staff and their families, in addition to the wider community.
