Objective of the role

  • To provide expert advice and high level technical services to Milaha at the corporate and business units levels in order to allow them to reduce liability, operate in legal conformity, upgrade operations, gain or maintain international standards, and develop management systems.
  • To conduct HSSEQ tasks associated with the corporate departments and business units as directed by the Corporate HSSEQ Manager.

Key roles and responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate activities related to ISO/OHSAS international standards, including audit planning, scheduling, audit function, issue of corrective actions and monitor until completion.
  • Ensure continual improvement process are in place via quality management; also control all corporate department manuals, procedures, policies and forms adequately.
  • Create bespoke policy, technical procedures, specialist manuals and forms in order to provide business units, corporate departments and large contract holders documented work procedures and processes, support business continuity, provide continual improvement and operate to international standards in line with clients’ contractual and legal requirements.
  • Develop technical bespoke emergency plans, research emergency actions, develop evacuation plans and conduct training as requested.
  • Evaluation of corporate departments work processes, performance against objectives, ensuring transparency, providing efficiency and financial savings, removing duplication, provide cost effective solutions, increase performance, reduce waste, eliminate loss and ensuring the departments continual improvement via the audit process.
  • Conduct high or medium level technical training in regards to QHSE activity for all levels of management and personnel.
  • Act as technical specialist for environmental matters and principle point of contact for pollution incidents/control, environmental law, energy use, waste management, recycle, best practice, aspect and impact management, provision of tender information and technical advisor for international ISO standards.
  • Conduct high level investigations and document major safety and environmental incidents including the evaluation potential in relation to liability, employee/company prosecution and punitive measures providing detailed high level technical evaluation reports.
  • Identify and communicate HSSEQ relevant international, GCC, and Qatar laws and regulations, compile the specific requirements within a department or business unit legal register and ensure compliance.

Minimum requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Health and Safety, Quality Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Safety Engineering or equivalent.
  • Lead auditor for ISO 9001, 14001 and OHSA 18001.
  • 5 years HSSEQ management level experience and 10 years total HSSEQ industry experience.
  • Extensive experience in management systems with the ability to create bespoke manuals to international standards.
  • Extensive work history in multiple fields inclusive of engineering, maritime, oil & gas.
  • Competent with generic computer applications.
  • Fluent spoken and written English.
  • Ability to write high level reports of a precise nature.
  • Strong knowledge of HSSEQ Management Systems.
